My work!

ok so here goes.... my work is yet again about "roads" and motorways in particular this year. Its important to say that all the work/paintings that ive done are relating to about 90 mins of video footage I took at the beginning of the year, and I dont fancy uploading the lot of it!

Ive been working on a lot of series work to do with movement in particular, and then went on to take the information I got through the video's and in a way re-creating it and made my own moving images, all ofcourse relating to the same theme (if that makes sense)

This first image is a series of 9 paintings on canvas board, much better viewed in a single line rather than the way that they are shown here, and that is the way Iwant to show them for assessment. Ive also done a few different versions of these from different "times" in the video's but these came out the best.

These are another lot of 40 series paintings, a lot smaller scale and are for a video im in the process of making, I am seperating them all and playing them one after another to make it look like a moving image...oh and that bottom left one is painted in the wrong order by the way!

Here are another 3, done in series again, not turned out too good though in my opinion because there is too much sky...maybe cutting them in half would improve them??

This is the first way I thought of making my work "move" I made this zoetrope, and put it on a record player to make it spin, quite simple but works better than I thought it would!!

The series of lines that are shown in it on this photo was a test to see if it actually worked the way I wanted it to, when the record player is on, the line spins round continually. the only really limitation to this idea is that there are only a certain number of squares, and I cant get the ammount of information in that I would like, still works well though.

as for the video I mentioned that im making, I am using a selection of different bits that I have made throughout the year, I have video'd the zoetrope moving with each of the drawings in, and am using the series of 40 paintings, and using a few effects so I could put a moving image over the top of a painting etc...lots of ideas they just need to be brought together, so I am in a way turning this project full circle, starting off with a film, painting, drawing, into movement with flip books (no images for them) series work, then the zoetrope, and ending by using everything that ive made, but importantly not using the original film, to make another film.
